How Will Zinedine Zidane Set Up Real Madrid? Following the sacking of Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari, Real Madrid have reappointed Zinedine Zidane as their manager. He won the Champions League a record three times in a row during his 3 seasons as the club’s manager and despite Los Blancos’ poor season, he will be expected to bring the glory days back to the Bernabeu.

During his first spell as manager, Zidane used a variety of tactical systems but favoured a 4-3-3. This got the best out of Madrid’s squad of Galacticos including, 5 time Ballon D’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Toni Kroos, Sergio Ramos and Luka Modric. Zizou didn’t favour Gareth Bale however and now that the Frenchman has returned, it could spell the end of days for the Welsh International.
Despite Zidane’s incredible managerial record, Real Madrid’s squad needs an overhaul. Multiple news outlets have reported that Zidane will have over £300 million to spend in the summer and Florentino Perez has already been talking up the possibility of signing BOTH Kylian Mbappé and Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain, as well as Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante and Eden Hazard, and Manchester United’s Paul Pogba. Other sources have claimed a whole host of footballers will be signed by Madrid in the summer including, Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané, Porto’s Eder Militao, Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen, Dele All and Harry Kane, Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling and Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho. Obviously signing all those players would amount to such a fortune even Real Madrid would breach FIFA’s Financial Fair Play so don’t expect to see everyone lining up for Los Blancos come the start of the 2019/20 season.
The loss of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus and finishing an embarrassing distance behind Lionel Messi’s Barcelona in La Liga could bring about a frantic transfer window. Real Madrid can realistically spend £300 million without a real problem, but by selling players and raising funds, we could witness the Spanish giants spend half a billion rebuilding their squad.
But who do you guys think Real Madrid should sign? And will Zinedine Zidane take Real Madrid back to the top of the game?
