ESPN FC’s Steve Nicol and Mark Donaldson break down Real Madrid’s 2-0 win over Espanyol and Karim Benzema scoring his 11th goal of the season, putting him at the top of La Liga. Nicol believes Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from Real Madrid has allowed Benzema to grow in confidence and get more opportunities in front of goal, leading to him arguably being “the in-form center forward” in football. He also says manager Zinedine Zidane doesn’t need to make a change with Benzema firing on all cylinders, although he would still pick Lionel Messi and Barcelona to win the league at the moment.
